A week post surgery… Maggie’s getting stronger

Hi all –

It has been a very busy week.  Maggie continues to improve each day.  I am amazed at how strong she really is.  She is almost able to get up on her own, and needs a lot less assistance walking.  She is starting to understand the tripawd thing 🙂  I am working with her on her balance and trying to take many short jaunts around the yard during the day.

I had to leave her for awhile yesterday, and she seemed to be ok. I was worried about separation anxiety, but I think she is more comfortable with her situation and less dependent on Rich and I.

The wound looks great!  Big scar, obviously, but no fluid seepage and no infection or redness.  Even the bruising was gone in only a few days.

Although we have a lot more to do, we made the BEST decision for our dog and she will be with us for awhile!  Fortunately, this is not cancer (that we know based on test and xrays) so I am hoping by removing the leg, the problem is finally gone!

Such a sweetie! Yes, I CAN see how sweet she is just by looking at her photos!

So glad you are already seeing improvement. One week is still very, very early. Just take it slowly. It takes about two weeks to recover from the surgery itself. It takes about thirty days to get all the mobility issues in sync…muscles, joints, etc.

You have a great sttitq and I’m sure your confident energy is helping her feel confident!!

Good job!!! Good update! Keep em coming! Lpve her pictures…more!!!

    Hugs!

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle too!
